July 2022 - While creating a little intro for next year’s Life Book where I’m a guest artist, I decided to play with film-making and try my creativity at connecting images with how I feel being an artist.

I know I can’t be the only one who struggles creating. I want to put on the happy face that I’m living the dream, but being an artist is a emotional coaster ride. I tell myself often… “You better buckle up buttercup.”

Mar. 9, 2020 - Are you an artist who teaches online or you would like to become an online teacher? As some of you know, I’ve been at this for about three years. And I guess I just haven’t learned the hard knocks of life yet, nope, not even at 61-years of age.

I wanted to share with you my experience thinking I had found an easy way to make fast money by teaching through the online platform called Skillshare.

Jan. 02, 2020 - Do you have those days where you hear this? ”You’re not good enough!” Those are freezing words, whether you are an artist or not. During my art journey, I almost stopped painting forever, because I believed I wasn’t good enough. Then I found art journaling.

In art journaling, there are no rules and no comparison to others. Just complete play and exploration. In 2019, I had the opportunity to participate in a Wellbeing Summit with Tamara Laporte, creator of Life Book. This summit included several healing art videos from some amazing artists that were offered online for students. I wanted to share an excerpt from that 2019 Summit regarding how I found using a simple notebook could break the creativity block.

Ever After Book

I got me copy of Tamara Laporte’s new book!

This year, 2019, was my first year to teach in the popular and inspiring online course Ever After 2019 and when I heard that Tam was writing a book based on this collection of step-by-step mixed-media art lessons inspired by fairy tales, folk tales, and classic fiction, I knew I had to share this with you.

Because not only do we get to go back to the joy of our childhood laughter and dreams, but Tam is always uplifting our artist community, and Ever After is so much more than just art lessons. Have you ever struggled with not believing in yourself?

Ever After, both the online course and Tam’s book, include guidance with her most frequently asked question that she receives from her students: “How do I develop my own creative style?”
