Encaustic - Greek: To Heat or Burn.
Encaustic painting is painting with heated wax where color pigment can be added.
The items that can be layered and added to an encaustic painting are endless, as long as they don't melt or catch on fire. *wink-wink*
I love experimenting with different papers, fibers, objects; feathers are one of my favorites to add. The ability to take away a layer by scrapping or heating offers the freedom to explore with abandonment.
I have been collaborating with a fellow artist during our Wax Friday adventures and will be sharing some of the videos of our successes and failures.
